Abstract

As compared to Reinforced cement concrete (RCC), steel has important physical properties like high strength per unit weight and ductility. This paper analyzes the response of unsymmetrical steel building with braces subjected to seismic loading using SAP2000, identifying the suitability of the bracing system to resist seismic loads efficiently, and comparing the response of braced and unbraced buildings subjected to horizontal or lateral loading. Equivalent static analysis is carried out for a steel moment resisting building frame having (G+9) storeys situated in zone III, comparing bending moment, shear force, storey drift and axial force as per IS 1893:2002.
